20 Ultimate Self-Confidence Boosters

20 Ultimate Self-Confidence Boosters

Preface

Self-confident woman at work.

Lacking self-confidence can be very hard. Low self-esteem could hold one back at work, in social settings, and in relationships. In addition, there are actions to be taken to control attitude and teach to feel more confident. From changes in mindset and behaviours, there is always something that could be done.

Below are the twenty best actions to be taken to boost self-confidence in no particular order…

1# Grooming Oneself.

A man taking care of himself after a shower.

This looks like such an obvious one. However, it’s amazing how much of a difference a shower and a shave can make in your feelings of self-confidence and self-esteem. Take care of yourself by dressing neatly, applying makeup, combing your hair, shaving, brushing your teeth and many more.

2# Dress Nicely.

A nicely dressed woman according to the weather condition.

Looking good in dresses ignites happiness in oneself. It makes one feel successful and presentable. Now, dressing nicely means something different for everyone. It doesn’t mean wearing a GHC5000 outfit. Here are some clues to help in dressing nicely:

  • Often purchase clothes you can wear to multiple settings such as a cute dress that can be worn with heels and a handbag or be dressed down with a cardigan and sneakers.
  • Be yourself! Pick out outfits that will make you feel great when you wear them.
  • Be open to inspiration. If you see a look you like in a magazine, try it out!
  • Wear things that you feel confident in!
  • Check out ‘We Heart Its app. People are posting outfits where you could get inspiration on what to wear.
  • Try to be colourful as simply wearing one colour can make outfits look dull or uninteresting.
  • Mix and match; you don’t have to buy an outfit that is already put together.

3# Photoshop Self-image.

Positive self-image.

Having a mental picture of oneself determines how confident one is in himself/herself. This picture isn’t fixed and immutable. You can change it.

4# Think Positive.

Think positively always.

One has to eschew negativity and embrace positive thinking. This is a trait to remove one from the claws of pessimism to optimism.

Kill negative thoughts and move hand-in-hand with the above item.

5# Get to know yourself.

Who are you?

Sun Tzu “Know yourself and you will win all battles”. This entails understanding yourself fully: understanding your own emotions, desires, abilities, etc.

6# Act positively.

Action is the key to developing self-confidence. It’s one thing to learn to think positive, but when you act on it, you change one action at a time. You are what you do.

7# Be Kind and Generous:

Kindness and Generosity

One should act under the Golden Rule that is always kind and generous. This is because being generous and kind encourages us to perceive others in a more positive light and fosters a sense of community, a feeling of interconnectedness. This will build self-confidence and also self-image.

8# Get prepared.

Arthur Ashe, “A key to self-confidence is preparation“. It’s hard to be confident if there is a notion one will perform poorly at something. That can get changed if one puts effort into preparing to make a difference at something and avoid failures or uncertainties.

9# Knowing one’s principles and living by them.

Knowing and sticking to your principles is an honour.

What are the principles upon which one’s life gets built? Without one, it creates a situation where one feels his/her life is directionless. Modelling life with principles that bind increases confidence because there is a sense of self-fulfilment when one feels his/her life has a direction.

10# Speak slowly.

Learn to listen before speaking

Such a simple thing, but it can have a big difference in how others perceive you. A person in authority, with authority, speaks slowly. It shows confidence. A person who feels that he isn’t worth listening to will speak quickly because he doesn’t want to keep others waiting on something not worthy of listening to.

11# Stand tall.

Standing tall not like a coward.

People who stand tall and confident are more attractive. Learn to behave in a brave, proud, or unyielding manner, without retreating from confrontation, danger, or adversity. quotations That’s a great thing any day.

12# Self-love.

Self-love is a must.

Self-love is confident, warm, and caring. It’s the complete acceptance of who and what you are-the appreciation and affirmation of yourself. It’s the unconditional support, self-care, and compassion you give yourself that ultimately results in good health, great self-esteem, happiness, total balance, and well-being.

13# Increase competence.

Competency is an attitude.

How does one feel more competent? By becoming more competent. And how do you do that? By studying and practising. Practising bit by bit at a time. To be considered competent in a task, a candidate needs to be able to demonstrate skill, knowledge, ability and experience and do so to the satisfaction of a technically skilled and senior assessor. The whole process must then be verified to ensure the assessment process has been followed accurately and completed correctly.

14# Set small goals and achieve them.

Plan and set realistic goals.

People often make the mistake of shooting for the moon, and then when they fail, they get discouraged. Instead, shoot for something much more achievable.

15# Change a small habit.

Change the habits that are not favourable to your progress.

Not a big one, like quitting smoking. Just a small one, like writing things down. Or waking up 10 minutes earlier. Or drinking a glass of water when one wakes up. Gradually, you will get to change all your bad habits. Take them one step at a time.

16# Focus on solutions.

Focus on the solution rather than the problem.

Focusing on solutions instead of problems is one of the best things one can do for his/her confidence and career.

17# Smile.

Always keep a smile on your face, it will brighten someone’s day.

A little tiny thing that can have a chain reaction. Not a poor investment of time and energy. A trait adored by many to boost human interaction and confidence.

18# Volunteer.

Help others by offering your skills, experience and knowledge.

Related to the “be kind and generous” item above, but more specific. Engaging or volunteering to serve in rewarding activities is another enabler to boosting self-confidence.

19# Be grateful.

Be grateful to others.

Being grateful for what you have in life, for what others have given you, is a very humbling activity. it can also be a very positive and rewarding activity that will improve self-image.

20# Exercise.

Exercising is good for the body.

Exercise has been one of my most empowering activities in the last couple of years, and it has made many people feel so much better about themselves.

Summary.

In a nutshell, it is necessary, the constant feeling of confidence about an action or a decision, this notion is in congruence with Walt Disney’s opined “When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable”.
